FxFactory 2.0.4

This free update to FxFactory adds support for Adobe After Effects CS3. The new version allows users to run their existing FxFactory plug-ins inside the new host. No product activations or separate purchases are needed.

Current FxFactory Pro 2 customers may also enjoy two new plug-ins: the “Blur Two Axes” filter and the “Blur Dissolve” transition.

Please note that this version requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and it will only work with Final Cut Pro 6 and Motion 3. If you are still running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Final Cut Pro 5.1 and/or Motion 2.1.2 please continue using the previous version instead.

FxFactory and Adobe After Effects CS3

Starting with this release, FxFactory makes it possible to run your effects collection inside Adobe After Effects CS3 (version 8.0 and later.) Installing this version of FxFactory is the only action needed in order to access FxFactory filters and generators inside After Effects.

Contrary to industry trends, no product activations or separate purchases are needed. Users will be able to use all plug-in packages for which they have already purchased a registration code inside After Effects as well. (Freebies continue to be supported at no charge on the new host.)

In this initial release for Adobe After Effects, FxFactory supports all filters and generators running at 8bit and 16bit depth per component (individual plug-ins have varying rendering capabilities.)

Plug-ins running inside After Effects also maintain full compatibility with parameter presets created in other hosts: users are free to create a preset in one host and load it up from any other supported host.

New and exclusive to the After Effects release, some FxFactory plug-ins will begin sporting a new Anti-aliasing parameter that lets you take advantage of hardware-accelerated anti-aliasing methods to generate a smoother output image:

Because After Effects does not support generators natively, FxFactory generators are available under the Effects menu and must be applied to an existing layer. All generators sport a new parameter named “Composite on Original” that lets users control whether the output of the generator should be composited over the original layer. When this option is off, the output of the generator is composited over transparent black:

Blur Two Axes

New under the “NI Blur” category is an FxFactory Pro filter that lets you apply a directional blur over two arbitrary axes. The plug-in uses the X and Y axes by default, but allows you to define each axis independently, via angle parameters.

Blur Dissolve

This new FxFactory Pro transition (available under the “NI Transitions” category inside Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express) combines a directional and/or gaussian blur with an exposure shift, generating various looks with minimal parameter adjustments. Three of the built-in presets are shown below:
