FxFactory Awards

The FxFactory Awards 2008 is officially over and we thank you for your great submissions. Our staff had the unlikeable task of picking just a few of your videos to be winners, when so many deserved to.

We hope you will enjoy our final picks, and that you will join us again next year.

Winner
Cadereyta

“Cadereyta” by Manuel Hernandez-Stumpfhauser, OXES

The winner of our first FxFactory Awards contest goes to a vibrant promotional video for Cadereyta, Mexico. We loved the fact that every single frame in this video was enhanced with our plug-ins. The “Color Crush” filter from FxFactory Pro was used to give a filmic quality to the original footage, shot with a Canon XHA1 camera at 24fps. Our glows play a major role in adding more visual punch to individual scenes.

Congratulations to Manuel for the excellent results. His video is a great example of how masterful enhancements can turn good footage into a great story.

First Runner-Up
Dreamlike

“Ben & Jerry's” by Art Bell, Dreamlike Pictures

Our first runner-up is a promotional video made by Art Bell for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. We were amazed how Art was able to turn his source material (static images and titles for the most part) into a captivating, entertaining piece. Equally amazing was the large number of plug-ins used in the process: FxFactory Pro, Volumetrix, Star Titler and CoverFlux.

Congratulations to Art for orchestrating such a large number of effects so seamlessly, and one warning to our viewers: you will be craving ice cream after watching this video!

Second Runner-Up
Charled David

“Charles David” by Nicholas Kleczewski, Techtronic Rocket Society

Our second runner-up is a promotional video made by Nicholas Kleczewski for fashion company Charles David. Nicholas relied heavily on stylizations, color adjustments and fast-paced transitions, more so than any other video submitted. There are few contexts where using so many wildly different styles makes sense, and we think this is one great example of a job well done.

Congratulations to Nicholas for using our effects arsenal to the fullest, and for giving our female staff members one video they were instantly hooked by.

The saddest part of our judgement process was watching so many great videos while knowing that only three of them would have to be singled out for a prize. We hope you will enjoy these other submissions just as much as we did, and hope to see more of your work next year.
