Effect Parameters

Presets
Presets contain a snapshot of the plug-in parameters. The Presets control lets you choose among one of the presets built into the plug-in, save current parameter values to a preset file, or load an existing preset file from disk.
A preset file saved to disk via the "Save As" button can be loaded from another instance of the same plug-in by clicking the "Open" button. Presets generated in one host can also be loaded from the same plug-in when used in a different host.

Position
The position (in 2D space) of the earth.

Earth Scale
The zoom level of the 3D Earth map.

Landmass Brightness
The brighness level of the continents.

Landmass Color
The color applied to the world map. Note that this color is affected by the "Landmass Opacity" and "Landmass Brightness" parameters.

Landmass Opacity
Controls the overall opacity (alpha) of the world map.

Landmass Brightness
Controls the brightness of the world map.

Font Name
The font used by the headlines.

Font Size
The font size used by the headlines.

Alignment
The text alignment used for the headlines.

Text Color
The text color used for the headlines.

Enable RSS Feed
Controls whether RSS content is loaded and visible.

Title Duration
The duration (in seconds) of each headline.

Use Custom Image
Controls whether a custom image (rather than the default world map) is used.

Custom Image
Use this image well to supply your own custom media to be used in place of the default world map, when the "Use Custom Image" checkbox is enabled.

Gradient
Controls whether the gradient is drawn in the background.

Gradient: Orientation
The orientation of the background gradient.

Gradient: Start Color
The start color of the gradient. In Motion, this parameter supports an alpha component.

Gradient: Middle Color
The middle color of the gradient. In Motion, this parameter supports an alpha component.

Gradient: End Color
The end color of the gradient. In Motion, this parameter supports an alpha component.

Automatic Rotation
Controls whether the globe will spin automatically.

Automatic Rotations/sec
When the "Automatic Rotation" checkbox is enabled, this parameter controls how many seconds it takes for one rotation. Setting this parameter to 60 means, for example, that the globe will take one minute for a complete rotation.

Manual Rotation: X Rotation / Y Rotation / Z Rotation
When the "Automatic Rotation" checkbox is disabled, these angle parameters control the angle of rotation of the globe (one per axis).

Motion Blur

Quality

Enables motion blur at different quality settings. The higher the quality, the more samples are used to render the final scene.

  • Off - the scene is rendered without motion blur.
  • Low - render a few samples per frame.
  • Medium
  • High - render with the highest number of samples (slowest setting, highest quality)

Motion Blur Diagram
Figure: motion blur with four samples per frame, a shutter angle
of 180 degrees and a shutter offset of 0.

Shutter Angle

When motion blur is enabled, this parameter controls the size of the shutter used to simulate motion blur. The size of the shutter determines how frequently light is allowed to pass through the lens. A shutter angle of 360 degrees means that samples are collected for the entire duration of one frame. Setting a shutter value of zero means that you want to collect light only once, which is equivalent to turning motion blur off.

Shutter Offset

When motion blur is enabled, this parameter determines the time when the shutter will open and close, relative to the current frame time.
An offset of zero means the shutter is open an equal amount of time before and after the current frame time.

Correct for Aspect Ratio
Scales the image to its natural display aspect ratio before the effect is applied. This parameter guarantees that geometric features in the effect appear undistorted when the footage is viewed at its display aspect ratio.
This parameter should be enabled for most footage whose display aspect ratio differs from the native aspect ratio of the codec, e.g. NTSC DV frames recorded at 720x480 pixels and displayed at 4:3 (640x480 pixels), or HDV frames recorded at 1440x1080 and displayed at 16:9 (1920x1080 pixels).
Disable this option if you have already taken steps to adjust the frame aspect ratio and/or notice that this parameter is causing unwanted distortion in your footage rather than preventing it.
