Repositions the input image according to a perspective projection, and generates a reflection of the image over a glass surface. Reproduces the look used by iChat's multi-person videoconferencing.
Please note that a newer, better version of Perspective Reflection is now included with FxFactory Pro. This version of the plug-in is included for backwards compatibility.
If you have used older versions of the Perspective Reflection plug-in, you should note that Gradient-related options have been improved and nested under the "Gradient" parameter group. Due to certain modifications made to the gradient drawing technique, you may want to read the documentation for the "Legacy Gradient" checkbox parameter, below.
Effect Parameters
Presets
Presets contain a snapshot of the plug-in parameters. The Presets control lets you choose among one of the presets built into the plug-in, save current parameter values to a preset file, or load an existing preset file from disk.
A preset file saved to disk via the "Save As" button can be loaded from another instance of the same plug-in by clicking the "Open" button. Presets generated in one host can also be loaded from the same plug-in when used in a different host.
Reflection Intensity
The amount of color information preserved in the reflection. An intensity value of 0 will cause most color information to be lost (turning the reflection into a shadow). An intensity value of 1 will preserve all color information in the original image.
Reflection Opacity
The opacity (alpha) level of the reflection. Set the opacity to 0 to completely hide the reflection. Please note that the opacity level of the reflection is also affected by the "Reflection Swingback" parameter.
Reflection Swingback
Controls the animation progress from the original image position (full frame, with no reflection) to the perspective-adjusted result.
By adjusting this parameter, it is possible to smoothly transition from the original clip image to the distorted one. During the animation, the opacity value of the reflection is automatically adjusted from a value of 0 to the final value given by the "Reflection Opacity" parameter. The latter operation makes the reflection appear smoothly over the background.
Draw Gradient
Controls whether the gradient is drawn in the background. The various options for the gradient are available under the "Gradient" parameter group.
Gradient Start / Middle / End
The start, middle and end colors of the gradient. In Motion, this parameter also supports an alpha component.
Direction
Defines the orientation of the gradient (horizontal or vertical).
Midpoint
Defines the location in the gradient where the "Middle Color" is located. The default value of 0.5 puts the middle color in the middle of the gradient. Values approaching 0 will move the midpoint closer to the gradient's start, whereas values approaching 1 put the midpoint closer to the end of the gradient.
Diffusion
The diffusion coefficient determines whether the three colors are interpolated linearly, or using a smoother curve (the smoothest curve is obtained by setting this parameter to 1).
Legacy Gradient (8 bit only)
Enable this option to force the plug-in to render the gradient using an older technique that only works at 8 bit color depth.
This option is useful if you have used Perspective Reflection in an old project and you need to reproduce the old look of the gradient. Please note that the Midpoint and Diffusion parameters are not supported in Legacy mode.
To check the current color depth setting in Final Cut Pro, choose the "Settings..." command under the "Sequence" menu. When the sequence settings window appears, select the "Video Processing" tab. Your sequence will render at high-precision 32 bit color depth when either the "Render all YUV material in high-precision YUV" or the "Render 10-bit material in high-precision YUV" option is set. The sequence will otherwise render at 8 bit color depth. The "Video Processing" settings only affect rendering, not preview.
To check the current color depth setting in Motion, choose the "Project Properties..." command under the "Edit" menu. The color depth is indicated by the "Bit Depth" popup menu. Motion will normally preview at the same bit depth of the project, unless this capability has been disabled from the corresponding option under the "View" menu.
Special Considerations
This plug-in will not work as expected inside Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 due to certain limitations in its FxPlug support. Please upgrade to Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 (or later) to use this plug-in.
