Quartz Composer is a powerful, node-based compositing engine at the heart of Mac OS X. FxFactory Pro leverages Quartz Composer to allow users to create and customize plug-ins without writing a single line of code.

You can launch Quartz Composer by selecting "Open Quartz Composer" in the actions menu in FxFactory.

Basics

The following picture illustrates Quartz Composer's main user interface elements:

• Patch Browser: list of all available patches, which can be dragged onto the workspace. The search box at the top makes it easy to locate patches quickly.
• Editor: the area in the Quartz Composer environment used to assemble patches.
• Parameters: allows you to view and change the values of input ports (e.g. effect parameters), as well as settings for a patch.
• Preview: previews your composition in real time.
