New plug-ins may be created from scratch or from an existing Quartz composition file. If you already have a composition file ready, click the "New Plug-In from Composition" button and select an existing composition file:
Instead, if you are creating the plug-in from scratch click the "New Plug-In" button in the window toolbar. The following sheet will appear:
Select the type of plug-in that you want to create, and assign it a name, group and author. Plug-ins must have unique names within the same category.
Click the "Create" button to create the plug-in and dismiss the sheet window. The new plug-in will be created according to the options you have specified.
All newly created plug-ins have a very simple setup. You will almost always want to edit the Quartz composition that is at the center of the plug-in, and tweak your parameters and settings accordingly.
