FxFactory Runtime Version History

The FxFactory Runtime is the component of our software that renders your effects inside video applications. It provides the environment in which the Quartz compositions are loaded and rendered. The following table shows some of the more important versions of our runtime, in relationship to the hardware and software they support.

4.0 10.7 First version which supports Adobe Premiere Pro, beginning with version 6 (CS6).
3.0.5 10.7 First version which requires OS X Lion, and 64-bit versions of After Effects.
3.0.4 10.6.3 Last version to support Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Adobe After Effects CS3 and CS4.
2.6.3 10.6.3 First version to support hardware-assisted OpenGL anti-aliasing in effects that are rendered in the background by Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 41).
First version to drop support for the NVIDIA GeForce 7300/7600 and NVIDIA Quadro 45002).
2.6.1 10.6.3 Last version to support NVIDIA GeForce 7300/7600 and NVIDIA Quadro 4500.
Not capable of rendering compositions that required hardware-assisted OpenGL anti-aliasing (FSAA) in Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4.
2.6 10.5.8 First version to support Final Cut Pro X and Motion 5, via 64-bit FxPlug.
Last version to support Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8.
Not capable of rendering compositions that required hardware-assisted OpenGL anti-aliasing (FSAA) in Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5 and Compressor 4.
2.5.7 10.5.8 First version to support Adobe After Effects CS5.5.
2.5.3 10.5.8 Last version to support Macs with PowerPC processors.
2.1.5 10.5.8 First version capable of running at 64-bit, in order to support Adobe After Effects CS5.
2.0.4 10.5.8 First version to support Adobe After Effects CS3.
2.0.3 10.4.11 Last version to support Mac OS Tiger 10.4.11, Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 and Motion 2.1.2.
2.0 10.5 First version to support Final Cut Express 4.
all n/a Early versions of FxFactory required an ATI Radeon 9600 (or later models) or NVIDIA GeForce GT 6800 (or later models).
No version of FxFactory has ever supported Intel GMA graphics cards or the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.
1) Background renders are defined as all rendering requests handled by the ProMSRenderTool.
2) These cards do not support the EXT_framebuffer_multisample and EXT_framebuffer_blit OpenGL extensions.
